Paddock Session 3: Leneva
'Veg on the edge' - urban development and vegetation management This session offered a microcosm of issues, challenges and opportunities relevant to similar landscapes in coastal and regional Australia - how do we plan, implement and manage for native vegetation in rapidly urbanising environments? Leneva is a major subdivision just to the south of Albury-Wodonga. With 30,000 new residents expected by 2030 the pressures on native vegetation and biodiversity are immense. The challenge of balancing the needs of these new residents with threatened species, endangered vegetation communities and the natural resource base was explored with local government planners, biodiversity specialists and local communities in an informative "hands-on' way.
