CSIRO Forestry and Forest Products

CSIRO Forestry and Forest Products researches forestry, wood and paper sciences. A major FFP program is the Australian Tree Seed Centre, which maintains a national collection of Australian forest genetic resources and provides authenticated seed samples and advice on species selection, silviculture and tree improvement strategies to Australian and overseas researchers and growers. A quarterly newsletter called ensisLINK is available on-line (http://www.ffp.csiro.au/NE-ArchivedOnwood.asp). In addition, the site has an on-line database of their divisional publications (journal and research papers) at http://reprints.ffp.csiro.au.

CSIRO Land and Water

CSIRO Land and Water and its partners seek to develop innovative solutions to Australia’s land and water management challenges. Its skill base includes expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, soil science, biology, ecology, atmospheric science, remote sensing, physics, chemistry, economics and social science. The website contains an extensive collection of publications, including scientific and technical reports, information brochures, and Land and Water Link. CSIRO Land and Water is a research partner with MDBC in the Heartlands initiative (http://www.clw.csiro.au/heartlands), which combines a research program directly with the implementation of on-ground works such as tree planting, protection of remnant vegetation, establishment of perennial pastures and erosion protection measures.
