CALM has statutory responsibility for managing land under the CALM Act including State forest, timber reserves and formal conservation reserves, and is the lead biodiversity conservation agency in the State. CALM undertakes management of, and research into, ecosystems including wetlands, revegetation including broadscale revegetation such as using oil mallees, and threatened species and threatening processes. FPC is WA’s trading enterprise for plantation management and commercial production from renewable timber resources. It manages tree-planting programs, sometimes in association with private landholders e.g. the Infinitree Program has the FPC partnering with farmers to create commercial tree plantations on their properties.
