Précis
"The purpose of this Handbook is to give field personnel in the mining industry practical guidance on how to rehabilitate areas disturbed by mining in a sensible, scientifically-based way. The Handbook should be viewed as an adjunct to statutory requirements and a guide to best industry practice." Included is practical information on regevetation techniques including planting, direct seeding and site preparation.
Evaluation
This pocket-sized publication is specifically designed for the reclamation of minesites and contains precise, easily followed instructions to achieve this. It would also be relevant to anyone dealing with severely altered or degraded sites or sites where there is a high erosion hazard. The legislation, contacts and declared weeds sections are out of date. This would be excellent for anyone undertaking revegetation on difficult sites.
