Tasmanian Conservation Trust (TCT)
Non-government
About
The Tasmanian Conservation Trust (TCT) works to ensure that competing demands for natural resources are resolved in a rational end environmentally responsible manner. It aims to foster and assist in the conservation of flora, fauna and important natural, archaeological and cultural features of Tasmania.
Programs
The Tasmanian Conservation Trust campaigns for the protection, and where necessary the restoration, of rivers, streams, lakes, lagoons, wetlands and estuaries in Tasmania. In particular, the TCT is concerned with the proliferation of small farm dams and the promotion of large, environmentally damaging dams in northern Tasmania.
The TCT is also heavily involved in the water management planning process, a robust and highly consultative means of implementing environmental flows in Tasmanian rivers.
The TCT also publishes a regular newsletter, of which back issues are available on the website, and copies of TCT submissions to government are also available.
