Greening Australia
Non-government
"a healthy, diverse and productive environment treasured by the whole community"
About
Greening Australia is a national organisation that seeks to help people preserve, protect, establish and manage Australia's native vegetation.
Greening Australia was formed in 1982 by the United Nations Association of Australia and the Nursery Industry Association of Australia, to mark the International Year of the Tree. Greening Australia has offices in every state and territory of Australia.
Greening Australia works in partnership with landholders, the community, government and business to tackle environmental degradation in a practical, apolitical, scientific way.
Programs
Greening Australia has developed partnerships with leading scientific and research agencies so that communities across Australia can access cutting edge technologies and information to tackle their local vegetation issues.
Greening Australia has established the Land Innovation Fund to provide investment capital to new agricultural and land enterprises that will produce both commercial and environmental benefits.
Greening Australia’s River Recovery program is creating partnerships with visionary business leaders, scientists, community-based organisations and government agencies to save our rivers in crisis.
Greening Australia also provides Exchange - the National Vegetation Knowledge Service - a knowledge delivery service that aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and the knowledge and technical information needs of users.
See the website for more information and for details on state and territory offices.
