About

The Weeds CRC is Australia’s primary research organisation into the management of invasive plants.

The CRC's vision is reducing the risk of new weeds and the impact of existing weeds in Australia through the development and application of integrated weed management principles that can be broadly applied.

Programs

The Weeds CRC has five program areas:

• Weed incursion and risk management - Providing tools for a coordinated national approach to the assessment, management and prevention of newly emerging weed problems.

• Sustainable cropping systems - Integrating weed management at the regional level and developing profitable Best Weed Management (BWM) packages through strong collaborative arrangements.

• Landscape management - This program takes a national approach to researching issues of weed management within areas of natural or semi-natural ecosystems.

• Communication - Increasing community awareness and understanding of weed issues. The program promotes community and landholder involvement in new weed management strategies, in an effort to increase the adoption of research findings.

• Education - Improving current weed training and developing new initiatives to increase awareness of weed issues and provide skills in weed management at all levels, from the wider community to specialist weed managers.

A summary of publications and products (annual reports, brochures, fact sheets, scientific papers etc) produced by the Centre is available on their website, or by contacting the Publications Department. Some publications are freely available as downloadable PDFs, others may be ordered using the form available. The Weeds CRC also offers education and training.

Weed Watch is a free newsletter published three times a year. Join the mailing list online or contact the centre to receive hard or electronic copies. The Herbicide Resistance newsletter is available as a PDF online.
